Tulia, Texas—Clyde Eugene Vaughn passed from this life on to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the age of 80 years. Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Tulia, Texas. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas at 2:30 pm that afternoon. Visitation will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors, 201 W. Broadway in Tulia, Texas on Monday, May 30th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Clyde Vaughn was born May 14, 1936 to R. Howard and Marjorie Francis Arthur Vaughn in Plainview, Texas. He grew up on a farm outside of Edmondson, Texas and attended schools in Halfway and Plainview, graduating from Plainview High School in 1954. On February 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Nancy Lou Brown, in Halfway, Texas. They resided in Edmonson, Plainview, Olton and then moved to Tulia in 1972. Clyde was a man of great faith in God, a hard worker, a person who could build or fix almost anything big or small, a good Samaritan, a gentle spirit and had a sweet sense of humor. He was a dedicated family man and church member who enjoyed times with family and friends and considered church attendance and activities a joyful endeavor. He loved music and had a beautiful, deep bass voice. He sang in Acapella choirs in high school and in his church choir. Clyde was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Tulia where he served as a deacon, a SundaySchool teacher, served on numerous committees and sang in the church choir. He was a 32nd degree Mason and had served as past Grand Master of the Tulia Masonic Lodge. While living in Olton, Texas, he was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Captain and was a member of the area Civil Defense Team. He also served as the President of the South Plains B-46 Automotive Booster Club. He was in the engine rebuilding business as a business owner and sales representative for over 57 years. He had proudly represented Rottler Manufacturing of Seattle, Washington for almost 40 years, traveling in Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Joe Ed Vaughn and Dave Floyd Vaughn, and his son-in-law, Terry Hutto. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Brown Vaughn of Tulia, his daughter, Debbi D. Hutto of Lubbock, his grandson, T.J. Hutto II and wife Kaley of Ankeny, Iowa, his granddaughter, Candace Dee Norrod and husband Curtis of Lubbock, great grandchildren, Caleb and Carter Norrod and Sawyer Sue Hutto. He is also survived by dear cousins, Billie Figer of Austin, Peggy Greenwood of Lubbock and Jan Goodin of Canyon and much loved nieces and nephews.
