Maria S. Amaya (Plainview)

Maria S. Amaya, 72, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 2, 2016 at St. Alice Catholic Church with Father Nicolas Rendon officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Amaya was born January 11, 1944 in Hondo, Texas to Antonio & Esperanza Sauceda. She married Domingo Amaya on October 25, 1969 in Olton. Mrs. Amaya worked as a licensed insurance agent for Primerica for 15 years, sold BeautiControl products for 25 years, did demonstations for Demo Pro for 10 years and sold Amway for 5 years. She was a loving wife of 46 years to her husband Domingo Amaya and a wonderful mother to daughter Elizabeth Amaya. Mrs. Amaya was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Domingo Amaya of Plainview; one daughter, Elizabeth Amaya of Plainview; six brothers, Manuel Sauceda of Eastland, Tony Sauceda, Pete Sauceda and Robert Sauceda all of Plainview, Ernest Sauceda of Hobbs, NM and Rudy Sauceda of Andrews; four sisters, Julia Jimenez of Abilene, Minnie Flores of Mertzon, Josie Montemayor of Lubbock and Anita Sauceda of Plainview and mumerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
