Services for Ervin K. Koelder, 86, will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Hale Center with Jimmy Cameron, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hale Center Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held at Kornerstone Funeral Directors on Sunday, June 26, from 6:00 - 7:30. Mr. Koelder was born March 3, 1930 to Eva Rachel Sherman and August Kino Koelder in Hale Center, Texas. He died June 24, 2016 at his residence in Plainview, Texas. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He married Yvonne "Tillie" Koelder on June 26, 1954 in Cotton Center. He worked for Starnes Gin for 25 years before farming. He loved hunting and fishing and hosted a pheasant hunt every year since 1971. He was a strong supporter and an Honorary Chapter member of the FFA. He volunteered taking food to the Methodist Home and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hale Center. He loved baseball, the Red Raiders and loved his family. He was a man that stood for what was right. He was survived by his wife Yvonne "Tillie" Koelder of Plainview, 2 daughters, Kathie and her husband, Jimmy Ray of Aubrey, Texas; Karen and her husband Johnny Boyce of Hale Center; Gary Koelder and his wife, Marilyn, of Hale Center; 2 sister-in-laws, Pat Koelder of Amarillo and Mellonee Jennings of Pampa; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leon Koelder and Calvin Koelder and a sister, Grace Dalton.
