Vigo Park, Texas—Lucy Culwell, 94 passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in the First United Methodist Church in Tulia. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery in Wayside. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Addie Lucille Moore Culwell was born on April 13, 1922 to W.R. and Nannie Moore at Vera, Texas in Knox Co., Texas. She grew up in the Wayside Community where she was an outstanding athlete, winning many honors and was an all-state basketball player. Lucy was very active in the Tulia and Vigo Park Communities, serving on many boards and volunteering many hours. She won many awards for her services. The whole community mourns their loss of a very outstanding woman. She was an active member of the Vigo Community Church. She was known as Mommers or Aunt Lucy to many more than just her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Roland Moore, three sisters: Cora Belle Roberts, Lois Culwell and Mildred Littlefield Graham and one great grandson: Grayson Swinburn. She is survived by her husband, John of almost 76 years. They lived in the Vigo Park Community nearly all of those years and continued to live there until her death. Two daughters: Vicki and Kenneth Littlefield of Vigo Park and Cheryl and Dale Swinburn of Tulia, Six grandchildren: Wade Littlefield, Carrol Littlefield, Kenee Borchardt, Chad Swinburn, Scot Swinburn and Dane Swinburn, one sister: Neva Priest Latham of Conway, AR, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including Shan Durham that they helped raise.
