Jack Dempsey Swanson, 78, of Plainview, passed away at 2:23 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006 in Prairie House Living Center. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2006 in First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Manual Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Swanson was born on December 27, 1927 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Marvin Henry and Hattie McClure Swanson. He married Elizabeth Price on December 31, 1958 in Plainview. Jack was a veteran of WWII and farmed in the Happy Union Community south of Plainview for 54 years. After retiring from farming he drove a school bus for Plainview ISD. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Swanson of Plainview; four children Dan Swanson of Cameron, Louisiana, Donna Ferguson of San Angelo, Sandra Bloom and Husband John of Tulsa, Oklahoma, April Wade and Husband Jim of Amarillo; one brother W. H. Swanson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Bob and Don Ferguson, Shelly Thrasher, Amy and Jenna Wade; five great grandchildren Brendon and Kody Thrasher, Alex and Ashton Ferguson, Derc Decker; fifteen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three brothers Harold, Roy, and Ray Swanson; one sister Lola Arnold; one half-brother Charlie Tittsworth. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church, 1300 N.
