Matthew Steven Shackelford "Matt" (Plainview)

Matthew Steven Shackelford (“Matt”), 28 of Plainview, TX passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 29, 2016 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Matt was born on October 6, 1987. He graduated from Plainview High School in 2006. He then attended South Plains College and Texas Tech University, eventually receiving his Firefighter Certification from South Plains College Fire Academy. Matt enjoyed many things, including playing tennis for PHS, hunting, fishing, and participating in 4-H. Most of all, Matt enjoyed his family and friends, who he cared for immensely. Described as having a “kind heart,” Matt would always reach out to help someone in need. Matt had a youthful spirit, which was never more evident than when he was able to spend time playing with his nieces and nephew, cousins, and pets. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert & Norma Shackelford and Wilfred Stubblefield. Matt is survived by his parents; Mark and Pam Shackelford and Janis and Jerry Roberson, all of Plainview, TX; one brother Scott and his wife Jacie, of Ransom Canyon, TX, four sisters Holly Graham, Beth Owen and Jill Mason all of Amarillo, TX and Jennifer Penrose and her husband Joe of San Antonio, TX; grandmother; Ethel Stubblefield of Pampa, TX; two uncles; Randy Stubblefield & wife Trudy and Bob Shackelford and nieces and nephew Meagan, Kathryn, Ainsley and Blake. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
