Tulia, Texas—Alvin Ray Boyett, 68, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Amarillo. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 15, 2016 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Rusty Gray, pastor of Tulia Christian Fellowship church officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Al was born on April 28, 1948 in Amarillo to Alvin and Dorothy Boyett. He grew up in Tulia and graduated Tulia High School. He joined the US Army and served 12 years from 1969-1981. He returned to Tulia and worked a few years with the Texas Highway Dept. He then moved to California for a few years and then moved to Amarillo and worked at Montgomery Ward’s, Mrs. Baird’s and finally owned his own drive-in diner. He married his wife Judy on August 6, 1999. They moved to Tulia in 2004 and he worked for Dorothy’s Café until he sold it in 2015. He is survived by his wife: Judy Boyett of Tulia, two daughters: Misty Rox of Grange and Heather Willingham of Tulia, one son: James Coats of Amarillo, his mother: Dorothy Boyett of Tulia, two brothers: Jerry Boyett of Tulia and Terry Boyett of Arkansas, one sister: Debbie Earl of Tulia, five grandchildren: Lasha Bray, Dalton Hobbs, Dalton Davis, Michael Jones and Jonathan Jones and one great granddaughter: Serenity Hobbs.
