Tulia, Texas— Ed Shelton, 76, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kay Reed and Rev. Jim Hawthorne officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Ed was born February 27, 1933 in Quitaque. He grew up in Swisher County and graduated from Tulia High School in 1950. He served in the US Army. He married Barbara Montgomery on June 3, 1956 in Plainview. Barbara died November 3, 2005 in Tulia. He had worked 43 years at Swisher Electric Company before retirement. He was a lifelong Methodist. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law: Latonya and John Reynolds of Tulia, his son and daughter-in-law: Eddie and Dawn Shelton of Tulia, seven brothers and sisters and five grandchildren: Gary Reynolds of Harrison, Arkansas, Brandon Reynolds of Springfield, Missouri, Mason Moore of Tulia, Bryce Shelton of Tulia and Breigh Shelton of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Tulia American Legion Post, 204 S. Collins, Tulia, Texas 79088.
