Plainview, Texas--Rubye Faye Hill Henderson was the youngest of ten siblings born to the parentage of Abraham Lincoln and Tiny Horton-Hill, Sr. in Lynton Springs, Texas on January 30, 1937. When Rubye was young her family moved to Creedmoor, Texas where she attended elementary school, after that Rubye attended Texas State School for the Deaf and Blind in Austin, Texas for three years, and her last year of high school was at L.C. Anderson High School in Austin where she graduated in 1954. After graduating from Anderson High School, Rubye graduated from Huston Tillotson College in Austin with a B.S Degree in Biology in 1959. While attending Huston Tillotson College she met her soul mate, Alfred Lewis Henderson, at church. Four years later on February 7, 1957 they were united in holy matrimony that lasted fifty-nine years. To this blessed union, one beautiful daughter was born, Aldria Yvette Henderson. She obtained a Masters of Elementary Education from Texas Southern University, and she completed additional graduate work at Texas Tech University. Rubye spent over forty years teaching, and most of those years were in Plainview ISD. She loved teaching, but spent the latter part of her career as a diagnostician and special education counsellor. Rubye served the community in a myriad of organizations; Plainview Community Concerts Board, RSVP, American Association University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas Cancer Council Board (appointed by Speaker of the House Pete Laney) and many more. Rubye was honored as Woman of the Year in 2000 and ACS Shining Star Award in 2013. Beginning in her youth she never wavered from her love for Jehovah God. Rubye loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and might. And she loved people with a godly mindset. She studied scriptures and applied them to real life. She had a passion for learning and teaching about her faith in Eloah. Volunteering and giving has been her passion since youth. She learned first from her parents’ example that volunteering was, and is, enhanced by a calling from God to serve. She completed her journey on this earth in Austin, Texas, August 16, 2016, and now she is joined in communion with our Lord and Savior. Rubye was preceded in death by her daughter Aldria Y. Henderson Malone-Graves, her parents; five brothers: James Hill, Theodore Hill, Leonard Hill, Troy Hill and Abraham Hill, Jr; Sisters: Doris Hill-Simms, Bernice Hill-Stewart, Winnie Hill-Gooden and Joella Hill. Malone, (special friend, Bryson Lowery); Great grandchildren: Aluntra A. Brooks, Amaury H. Malone and Zariah Lowery.
