Services for Betty Black, 82, of Hale Center will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Cotton Center First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Home. Mrs. Black passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 in Lubbock, TX. She was born January 28, 1934 in Crosbyton, TX. She married J.D. “Preach” Black on February 12, 1954 in Clovis, NM. The couple lived in the Cotton Center/Hale Center area, where they farmed. They also owned and operated the Hillside Acres Country Club in Hale Center for 25 years. Mrs. Black was active in the First Baptist Church of Cotton Center community. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband. Her survivors include 1 son and 4 daughters. Granny Betty loved her 13 grandkids, their spouses, and her 12 great-grandkids. Trina, Dana, Nathan, Tara Shae, Jade, Jason, Brandi, Brooke, Drew, Blaze, Texi, Farmer, Hondo, Ashlyn, Braelyn, Dallan, Mayli, Brycie, Ryker, Riston, Jaylee, Braxton, Tye, Jetti, and Lucille.
