Benito “Benny” Gonzales, 59, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009, in Amarillo. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 6 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Raymundo Manriquez officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A rosary will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Benny was born on July 7, 1950 in Three Rivers, Texas to Masimo and Josephina Gonzales. He grew up in Hart and attended schools there. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam. He worked for Excel for 25 years before retiring in 1995. He also worked for Wal-Mart Supercenter for several years and owned and operated a lawn service. He was a Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Hope Gonzales of Plainview; one son, Richard Gonzales of Plainview; two daughters, Sally Salinas and husband Jaime of Plainview, Tami Mancias of Plainview; he was “Popo” to five grandchildren, Shawn Salinas, Aalazah Gonzales, Elias Jr. Mancias, Katie Salinas, Ethan Mancias; two brothers, Max Gonzales of Plainview, Joe Manuel Gonzales of Plainview; sister, Olga Gallardo of Plainview; and close family friend, Cindy Gallardo of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Herminia Trevino.
