Tulia, Texas—Eugene Mote, 83, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Wayside Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Eugene was born to Felix and Edna Mote on April 20, 1933 in Tulia. He grew up here and graduated from Tulia High School. He married Bettye Culwell on August 30, 1952. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He returned to Tulia and owned and operated Tulia Livestock Auction. He moved to Colorado and ranched from 1977 to 1998. He retired and moved back to Tulia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister: Elaine Simpson. He is survived by one daughter: Sharla and Glenn Trimble of Stephenville, three sons: Ronald and Valerie Mote of Happy, Brent and Cally Mote of Tulia and Pete Padilla of Trinidad, CO., his brother: Joe Wood Mote of Tulia, ten grandchildren: Jamie Moreland, Blake Mote, Alan Sturgess, Elaine Wheeler, Jackelyn Dawson, Julie Jay, Tyson Diffie, Callie Diffie, Colton Diffie and Will Trimble, and 23 great grandchildren.
