Tulia, Texas— Alvin C. Fox, 91 passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 21, 2016 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. The family will receive friends at their home. He was born on December 24, 1924 in Lamb County to Amon Clyde and Viola Mae Fox. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1943. He served in the US Army as a S-Sgt. and Paratrooper from January 1944 to January 1947. He married Alta Whitsett in Tulia on February 9, 1946. Alvin completed the Electrical Program at Cone Electric in Chicago and then the Electrical Drafting Program at Chicago Tech. They returned to Tulia where he operated a dairy and farmed until retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia and served as a Sunday school teacher, training union teacher and greeter. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son: Jimmy Fox, his sister: Sue Fortenberry and her husband Odell Fortenberry, his sister-in-law: Fern Fox and his brothers-in-law: Dave Watson and Charles Whitsett. He is survived by his wife: Alta Fox of Tulia, his daughters: Sheila McAuley and husband Charlie of Arlington and Diane Powers and husband Dennis of Clifton, his son: Ron Fox and wife Leslie of Keller, his brother: Marvin Fox of Tucson, five granddaughters: Denise Powers of Houston, Danielle Powers of Austin, Mallorie McAuley of Austin, Kristen Fox of Keller and Katie Fox of Keller and several nieces and nephews.
