Hardy J. “Jay” Carlisle, Jr., 50, of Plainview, died on Monday, July 20, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Plainview, with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 23, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. He was born on June 26, 1959, in Plainview, to Hardy and Kathryn Carlisle. Jay graduated from Plainview High School in 1977 where he was actively involved in the band. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and an avid outdoorsman. Following graduation, he attended Texas Tech University where he was a member of the Texas Tech marching band and fraternity while majoring in business. Upon his return to Plainview, he worked alongside his father at Carlisle Motor Machine where he later became the owner and operator. In 2008, Jay accepted a position with Fed Ex in Lubbock, Texas where he was employed until his death. Jay was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and willingness to help others. He was a devoted son, brother, and friend and will truly be missed by those whose lives he has touched. Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Sandy Ramage and husband Marc of Odessa, Mari Jayne Fowler of Edmond, OK, his nephews, James and Jason Ramage, niece, Janet Lankford, seven great nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Gideons International P.O.
