Jane Bynum (Plainview)

Jane Bynum, 77, of Plainview passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 14, 2016 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Mr. Bryan Barrett of Ft. Worth officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon at Kornerstone from 4 to 5 P.M. Emma Jane Galloway Bynum was born on May 18, 1939 in Granite, Oklahoma to J.C. and Vesta Galloway. Her family moved to Texas when she was 9 and they lived in Halfway, Plainview, and Kress. She married Troy Bynum on Dec. 26, 1959 in Kress. They moved to Ft. Benning, Georgia for several years during Troy’s military service. Jane worked in the Banking Industry in Plainview and in Kress for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Kress. Jane has resided in Prairie House Living Center for the last 7 years and was honored as Ms. Prairie House 3 times. She loved playing Bingo and Dominoes. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Bynum; parents, J.C. and Vest Galloway; son, Danny Bynum; sister, Jean George; and two brothers, Joe Wayne Galloway and Jimmy Ray Galloway. Survivors include her daughter, Shelley Melton and husband Kenny of Lubbock; sister, Vesta June Jackson of Spearman; three grandchildren, Erin Gurley and husband David of Denver, CO, Bailey Melton of Lubbock, and Tucker Melton of Austin. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
