Edna Marie Thomas (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas—Edna Marie Thomas, 96, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2016 in the Jackson Chapel Church of God in Christ. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A wake will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Edna Marie Nelson was born on September 7, 1920 to Nathaniel and Eve Nelson in Frost, Texas. She was the youngest of four children. She attended schools in Frost, then later moved to Tulia and worked various jobs before attending nursing school after which she started working for Swisher Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed working with Emma Schulz, Darryl Nelson and a host of others. She is preceded in death by her husband: J.D. Thomas, her son: James Gill, her daughter: Tressie Jackson, her parents, two brothers and one sister. She leaves behind to enjoy her memories seven granddaughters: Linda and Vincent Lestig of Blue Mound, TX, Patricia Ann Davis of Amarillo, Linda Fay Releford of Ft. Worth, Betty Allen of Tulia, Sharon and Jonathan Shaffer of Amarillo, Janice and Joe Strickland of Arlington and Vicky and Vernon Vaughn of Ft. Worth. Also five grandsons: Anthony and Ann Davis of Amarillo, Clifford and Tonya Jackson of Ft. Worth, Colin and Elonda Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Ray and Dana Gill of Amarillo and Ivory and Nita Gill of Houston, 46 great grandchildren, 56 great, great grandchildren, seven great, great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
