Eddie Ray Morton (Mr. Hubbard) went to meet his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2016 with his family at his side. Mr. Morton danced through the pearly gates on his 80th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 16, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning officiating and Rev. Brad Snellgrove assisting. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Eddie Ray Morton was born in Hereford, Texas on December 13, 1936 to Virgil and Mayme Morton. He was the baby of 9 children. Eddie attended schools in Hereford prior to meeting the love of his life Dorothy Kitchens. Eddie and Dorothy were married on August 9, 1958. Eddie Morton loved to farm and ranch. Eddie was a man of many trades and talents. He managed mid-west grain. He owned the Ford Tractor Dealership in Plainview, Texas. In 1979, Eddie and wife, Dorothy Morton bought Hubbard's Pawn Shop where Eddie acquired the nickname Mr. Hubbard. Mr. Morton loved the Lord with his whole heart. He loved to witness to others and share the love of Christ with everyone. Eddie Morton had an unconditional love for his family. He adored his wife Dorothy of 59 years. Eddie was proud of his 2 boys, and gushed over his grands and greats. "Poppy" always had a stick of gum to share, an unforgettable hug to give, and would never let you leave without a good reminder of how much he loved you! He had a heart of gold. Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Dorothy, 1 brother: Jerry Morton of Plainview, Texas, 2 sons: Eddie and wife Teri of Hereford, Texas and Ricky and wife Tana of Plainview, Texas. 5 grandchildren: Mindy Harmon and husband Jerry of Hereford, Texas, Ryan Morton of Hereford, Texas, Tanner, Ashlynn, and Kateley Morton of Plainview, Texas and 3 great grandchildren: Zack, Slayde, and Kamryn Harmon all of Hereford, Texas.
