Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Little Mama was born on October 24, 1929 to Harvey & Faye (Scoggins) Heard in Pampa. We always said the world couldn’t handle her so the stock market crashed five days after she was born. Kaye was a woman of many passions, her greatest being writing poetry, gardening and adopting stray cats. She loved hiking her beloved Sierra Nevada Mountains, discovering and enjoying the great beauty of her Heavenly Father’s Creations. She loved to gourmet cook and Christmas was her greatest delight. She wrote many poems of her relationship with her Lord and lots of humorous ditties. She had been president of country singer Billy Walker’s Fan Club for many years. Kaye’s kids have many memories of her and Billy sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee. He even brought his four white horses to the house for them to ride. She traveled extensively to Nashville and to the Louisiana Hayride and other venues and met a lot of famous country artists during this fun time in her life. She even got to meet Elvis before he was king. She worked many years in the legal field and retired as a paralegal. Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and best friend, Duane Smith; her beloved brother, Gene Heard and grandson, Chris Shipman. She is survived by her daughter, Kitty Shipman & husband Bobby of Plainview; her son, Mason Myers & wife Becky of Tomball; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Belle Heard of Manchester, TN and her precious fur-baby KoKo. The family would like to thank Area Community Hospice for their loving care of Miss Kaye. A very special loving and grateful thank you to Suellen and Anita. You know she loved you.
