Jason Smith officiating and Rev. Don Robertson assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at Kornerstone. Doris was born on April 3, 1927 in Briscoe County, Texas to Luther and Ethel Campbell. She graduated from Silverton High School. She then moved to Plainview to attend Wayland, which at the time was a two-year college. While attending Wayland, she played basketball for the Wayland Jackrabbits. She married the love of her life Lee Cook in 1947. Upon graduation, her career path included working as a legal secretary and in the savings & loan industry. She returned to Wayland and completed her undergraduate degree from Wayland in 1971. She then taught fourth grade for sixteen years at College Hill Elementary. Upon retirement, Lee and Doris formed the Lee Cook Company, a real estate/gun shop on the courthouse square. Together they enjoyed thirteen years of crafts, gun trading and engaging with their eclectic mix of customers. Doris had a sweet spirit that loved to serve others, especially her family. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, baking and travel. Their home was the gathering site for family events and holidays. Weekends were spent at their cabin at Lake Kemp, where they fished, skied, worked and played. Lee and Doris were inseparable, devoted to each other and enjoyed an incredible fifty-five year journey together. She was a strong Christian, hard worker and role model who quietly served others. While those left behind mourn her passing, we take comfort knowing she is whole once again and together with Lee in Heaven. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Cook; son, Raymond Cook; parents, and a brother, Keith Campbell. Doris is survived by her three children, Barbara Cook of Plainview, Carol Cook Bleau and husband Jeff of Ruidoso, Brian Cook and wife Tami of Lubbock; two sisters, Glenna Yerby of Amarillo, Margie Hamby of Jacksboro; four grandchildren, Christopher Matthew Cook of Los Angeles, Katherine Lee Cook of Lubbock, Meredith DeLynn Cook of Houston, Faith Sanders and husband Dalton of Augusta, Georgia.
