Tulia, Texas—Jayleen Wilfong, 63, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 25, 2017 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, Rev. Charles Davenport and Dr. Kim Pond, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 for 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Jayleen was born on October 2, 1953 in Tulia to J. L. and Mildred Whitmire. She grew up here and graduated from Tulia High School in 1972. She married Garry Wilfong on November 3, 1972 in Tulia. She started at Swisher County Headstart in 1991 as the fiscal manager and became director in 2001 where she continued to work to this day. She loved her family, her church family and her Headstart family. Her greatest desire was to see her family love and serve the Lord. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father: J.L. Whitmire. She is survived by her husband: Garry Wilfong of Tulia, her mother: Mildred Whitmire of Tulia, her daughter and son-in-law: Vicki and Andrew Bevly of Lubbock, her son and daughter-in-law: Craig and Buffy Wilfong of Amarillo, her sister: Dianne Whitmire of Amarillo and her four precious grandchildren: Kenna Wilfong, Rhett Wilfong, Kathryn Bevly and Caroline Bevly.
