Jesusa "Susie" Soliz (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas-Jesusa “Susie” Soliz, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Tulia, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Jesusa was born on June 28, 1935 in San Benito, Texas to Ascension and Hortencia Hernandez. She was raised in Edinburg, TX. She married Cipriano Ramirez Soliz on December 26, 1956 in Edinburg. For many years she would help farmers with seasonal work. She worked for Hugh Poage, Jim Kirkpatrick, Mark Thompson and Ken Dawson. Jesusa enjoyed crocheting. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband: Cipriano Soliz,her parents: Ascension and Hortencia Hernandez; four sons and one daughter, three brothers and four sisters, one grandson and a son-in-law. She is survived by her two daughters: Enedina Chavez and husband Robert Mireles of Tulia and Virginia Soliz and husband Robert Hernandez of San Antonio ;two brothers: Victor Hernandez of California and Edward Hernandez of Arizona; two sisters: Inacia Davila and Maria Elena Ochoa both of California; four grandchildren: Christopher and Jennifer Chavez, Veronica and Adam Barrientez, Jason Barrientez and Sandy Cruz, Amanda Barrientez and Jeremy Rickles; fourteen great grandchildren: Claudia and Gabriel Olague, Alexandria Garcia, Isacc Garcia, Zanida Chavez, Zadrian Chavez, Trina Hammond, Delaina Hammond, Randi Hammond, Jaysea Rickles, Jaytyn Rickles, CassieBarrientez, Adrianna Barrientez , Justin Barrientez and Zayva Rose Chavez; one great, great grandson: Davin Luis Olague.
