Tulia, Texas—Sue Tanner, 74, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Helms, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the funeral home. Sue was born on September 15, 1942 in Tulia to Robert “Bob” and Marzelle Potter. She grew up here and graduated from Tulia High School in 1961. She married Charles Tanner on June 30, 1960 in Kress. After years of raising her kids she worked as a teacher’s aide. She graduated from West Texas College with a degree in Art and Reading Specialty. She worked for TISD for 30 years with the last 20 years as art teacher at Tulia Junior High. She was a member of Calvary Baptist church for 65 years. Her hobbies were quilting, painting and sculpturing. She enjoyed her rock gardens. She loved her family more than anything. She is preceded in death by her parents. Her husband, one brother: Bruce Potter and one grandson: Jeremy Ray. Her family includes her two daughters: Kim Caraway of Tulia, Jamie Villegas and husband Bobby of Tulia, her two sons: Robert Tanner and wife Pam of Borger and Chad Tanner and wife Tracey of Austin, one brother: Danny Potter and wife Patsy of Canyon, her sisters-in-law: Carolyn Ewing, Joy Barham, Anna Beth and Joe Ike Clay, 13 grandchildren: Lacey Caraway, Cody Caraway, Ryan Caraway, Ross Caraway, Tyson Tanner, Candace Tanner, Tarah Tanner, Levi Tanner, Amy Tanner, Beau Villegas, Micheala Villegas, Bobby Villegas, Jaquie Villegas, five great grandchildren: Avery Love, Brett Bently, Logan Bently, Braylynn Ray and Lane Ray, special family friends: Richard and Yolanda Villegas, special family members: Tonya and Rusty Ray, the loving care assisted living family and numerous nieces and nephews.
