Tulia, Texas—J.C. “Red” Gales, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. No services are planned at this time. He was born on September 3, 1935 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Roy Cecil and Hattie Gales. They moved to Tulia when he was about 6 years old. He grew up here and graduated from Tulia High School in 1954. He married Cindy Norris on April 11, 1968. They moved to Canyon in 1973 where he owned and operated Palo Duro Car Wash. He also worked for the Happy ISD as head maintenance director for several years and later worked in maintenance for the Palo Duro Retirement Village before he retired. He is survived by his wife: Cindy Gales of Canyon, two daughters: DeLeasa Jones and husband Travis of Dalhart and Janet Houk of Wichita, Kansas, one son: Shawn Gales and wife Marla of Canyon, six grandchildren: Andrew Jones, Garrett Jones, Brady Gales, Ross Gales, Matt Houk and Nathan Houk and one great grandchild: Jamison Houk.
