Tulia, Texas-Emilia Avila De Garza, 68, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 in Tulia, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Central Church of Christ with Pastor Delfino Ruiz officiating. Cremation services are under the Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Emilia was born on July 25, 1948 in Axlta de Terrazas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Moises Avila and Aldegunda Martinez. She married David Garza in 1994 in Tulia. She enjoyed making salsa and freezing vegetables. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed her last vacation on a cruise to Progresso, Mexico. Emilia loved to sing and travel with her best friend Hope Chasco. Her favorite food was Chinese food and she was a member of Central Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter: Griselda Resendez, one brother: Guadalupe Avila. She is survived by her husband: David Garza of Tulia, one daughter: Yesenia Tovar & husband Martin of Bonham, TX, four sons: Miguel Vivar & wife Marcella of San Luis, Potosi, Ray Resendez & wife Jennifer of Canyon, Mark Resendez of Tulia and Ricardo Resendez & wife Evalyn of Tulia, three brothers: Marco Antonio Avila, Jesus Avila and Moises Avila, one sister: Udelia Ruiz, 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
