Ann Heck Crooks (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas— Tulia, Texas—Ann Crooks’ beautiful and vibrant life ended on Thursday, February 23, 2017. We will miss her laugh, warmth, and kindness that she generously shared with everyone who crossed her path. She wore many hats but she was most proud of her role as a mother, wife and grandma. She raised her girls, Nikki, Ashley and Kelsi, to believe in hard work, God, and the goodness in others (all while having a very strong sense of humor)! These were the things that she espoused and demonstrated every day which is why her light shined so bright. She was tremendously proud of the women her children have become and beamed with joy whenever she saw her grandchildren. Ann was born on September 9, 1965 in Baldwin Hills, California to Robert Dreiling and Martha Heck. She was raised in San Antonio and graduated from MacArthur High School. In 1984, she moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech, where she would later meet the love of her life, Kevin. They married in 1987 and after a brief stint in Midland, they moved to Tulia where they raised their daughters for 25 years. After the girls were grown, they sold the farm and moved to Possum Kingdom Lake, a place where Ann found tremendous happiness. Ann is survived by her husband, Kevin Crooks of Possum Kingdom Lake; her three daughters: Nikki Lovvorn and husband Josh of Kress; Ashley McCallister and husband Ryan of Coahoma and Kelsi Crooks of Lubbock; two brothers: Bill Heck and wife Sandy of Amarillo and Tom Heck and wife Teresa of Turkey; her mother and father-in-law: Don and Glenna Crooks of Tulia; three sisters-in-law: Kim Bristo and husband Marc of Idalou, Kristi Lockaby and husband Todd of Tahoka and Kippi Cogdell and husband Dick of Silverton and her three precious grandsons: Jayston Lovvorn and Jaek Lovvorn of Kress and Nolan McCallister of Coahoma and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church in Tulia. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Area Community Hospice in Plainview and the staff at Raider Ranch in Lubbock for their special care and love for Ann and her family.
