Ella Elizabeth (Beth) Painter, a longtime resident of Edmonson, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the age of 91. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Edmonson with Rev. Brian Barkley officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas. Mrs. Painter was born on November 27, 1925 in Floyd County to Thomas Jefferson & Ida May Pemberton. Beth was welcomed into a large farming family and grew up in West Texas as a member of the Irick community. During World War II she travelled with her sister to Kansas and served as "Rosie the Riveter", assembling aircraft for the War effort. Beth was a loving mother and loyal wife. She was a homemaker and an accomplished cook, who enjoyed sewing, gardening and caring for her family. Beth loved the Lord and was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Edmonson. She was a member of the Northwest Home Demonstration Club and she was named Extension Homemaker of the Year in 1984. She is survived by her children, Gary Painter of Midland and Jan Pennington of Amarillo, as well as eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren who filled her life with joy and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Wayne Painter, in 1991. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Edmonson or to the South Plains Food Bank.
