Marlin “Red” McCaghren, 80, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, in Lubbock. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg, with Mr. Owen Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 P.M., Friday, August 28, 2009, at the funeral home. Red was born August 28, 1928 in Glen Rose Texas and attended schools there. He served in the U. S. Army. He married Elwanda Martin on February 9, 1968 in Dalhart. He farmed for many years and also was an Inventory Specialist. He did inventory for different companies all over west texas. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. He loved to sing and traveled with the Woodson Cambell Family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda on April 11, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lillie McCaghren; two brothers, Bob McCaghren and Norvell McCaghren. Red is survived by his brother-in-law, Dewayne Martin and wife Delores of Plainview; cousin, Johnny McCaghren of Cisco; numerous nieces and nephews.
