Bob Gullett, 84, of Kress passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Plainview. A memorial reception will be held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the 19th Hole of Plainview Country Club. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Bob was born on May 15, 1932 in Burkburnett, Texas to William and Joyce (Clayton) Gullett. Bob grew up in Olton and attended schools there. He was a phenomenal athlete and even participated in Golden Glove Boxing. After high school he went to work for Amarillo Hardware as a salesman and received many awards for his hard work. He then started his own company doing oil exploration. After a few years, Bob worked for Wal-Mart as a department head and once was awarded a personal visit with Sam Walton in his home in Arkansas. Bob retired from Wal-Mart but he got bored so he went to work for Plainview County Club. Bob loved the Country Club and made many long lasting friendships. Anyone that ever met Bob loved him as he always shared his smile and a joke. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Miller Gullett, and a brother, Jack Gullett. He is survived by a daughter, Doniece Phelps and husband Frank of Tulsa, OK; one son, Mike Gullett and wife Chance of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two brothers, Perry Gullett and wife Iris of Whittier, CA, Kenneth Gullett and wife Mary Lou of Houston, TX; one sister, Twyla Woodring of Plainview, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to Plainview Country Club in anticipation of setting up a golf scholarship in Bob Gullett’s Memory.
