Tulia, Texas—Ed Rogers, 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 in Kress. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, April 20, 2017 in the Kress First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Kress Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Ed Rogers was born on May 19, 1941 in Plainview, Texas to A.F. “Tige” and Gladys Rogers. He attended school in Kress all twelve years and excelled in sports. He worked at Rogers’ Garage with his father and his brother, John for over twenty years. He then worked in the insurance business for 38 years in Tulia until the present time. He married Terri Rogers on May 9, 1999 in Hawaii. He was one of the original volunteers at the Kress Fire Department and served as chief for many years. He was always involved in 4-H and FFA, and was passionate in watching the kids show their animals. Even when his children or grandchildren were no longer in school to show, he always taught and assisted other 4-H Club members. He was always eager to help when there was any need in the community. He owned the fireworks stand in Kress for 48 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kress. Ed was known to be a generous and kind man. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: John and Danny Rogers and one sister: Vickie Ann Rogers. He is survived by his wife: Terri Rogers, his son: Mark Rogers & wife Tammy, his daughter: Tonda Jolly & husband Neil, his step-son: Toby Roach & wife Rochelle, his step daughter: Kara Griffis & husband Eddie, his brother: Harold Ray Rogers, four grandchildren: Mitchell Rogers, Nick Rogers, Gavin Jolly & wife Mallary, and Adri Jolly: three great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
