Eva Mae Balenton, 72, of Plainview passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Matthew Veals officiating and assisted by Rev. H.K. Thomas, Jr. Interment will follow in the Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Eva was born on October 18, 1944 in Littlefield, Texas to Raymond and Lawrence Davis. She grew up in Littlefield and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1962. She then attended Wayland Baptist University where she received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Master’s Degree in Education. Eva worked for Southwestern Public Service Company for 28 years as a bookkeeper. After that, she taught at Thunderbird Elementary for 14 years before retiring in 2014. Eva was a member of the New Trinity Baptist Church in Morton, TX where she served as a musician, choir director, and Sunday School teacher. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Eva married Lou Balenton on June 26, 1965 in Littlefield, Texas. Survivors include her husband Lou Balenton of Plainview; two daughters, Elaine Balenton of Bryan, Sonya Charisse Balenton of Houston; one son, Barry Ellis Balenton of Mexia; and two honorary grandchildren, Elisha and Katelynn Allen of Humble.
