Tulia, Texas—Elma Burrow Henson, 96, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Broadstreet and Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. A private burial will take place prior to the service in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Elma was born on April 25, 1921 to William C. and Lillian Glover Jennings in Los Animas, Colorado. She was raised in Tulia and graduated from Tulia High School. She married J.G. “Jiggs” Burrow in 1938. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was also a founding member of the Progressive Study Club in Tulia. ‘Jiggs’ passed away in 1968. She was the secretary for Tulia Junior High School for a number of years before she became the financial secretary for First Baptist Church for several years. She married O.K. Henson in 1982. She loved her church and her family. Mr. Henson passed away in 2007. She is preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and two brothers: Albert Jennings and Edgar Jennings. She is survived by three children: Ken and Janie Burrow of Georgetown, Jan and Ronnie Latham of Denton and Debbie and David Barnes of Tulia, three step-children: Dennis and Dena Henson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Greg and Jan Henson of Sweetwater, Oklahoma and Carolyn and John Ross of Plainview, one brother: Jim Jennings of Boise, Idaho, one sister: Willene Smith of Lubbock, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
