Roy Jackson, 63 of Plainview received and accepted his call to enter into eternal rest, joining his mother, father, daughter, LeAndra Jackson and granddaughter, Samara Korynne Jackson on May 5, 2017. Roy was born June 15, 1953 to Roosevelt and Marie Jackson, in Littlefield, Texas. He attended schools in Kress, Texas, where he graduated. Roy married Sharon McKelvy on January 26, 1973 in Tulia, Texas. To that marriage were borne four children, Robbie Lynn Jackson (Dana), Christopher Michael Jackson (Jessica), LeAndra Kay Jackson (deceased) and Landon Henderson Jackson of the home. They had four grandchildren; Christopher Austin Jackson, Teyah LeAnn Jackson, Raven Sanaa Jackson and Samara Korynne Jackson (deceased). Roy worked at Cargill for 36 years until his retirement. He then worked at Plainview ISD for 8 years as maintenance supervisor in the Athletic Department until his illness caused him to give that up. Roy was a people person, loved children and was a go-getter. That big smile that he displayed came from his heart. He was always a participant when it came to helping others. He would do anything he was asked of him if it was in his power to do so. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He didn’t care if they won or lost, it was his team. He will be truly and dearly missed by all who knew him. Roy leaves to cherish his memories his wife Sharon; sons, Robbie Lynn Jackson of Kress, Texas, Christopher Michael Jackson of Plainview, Texas and Landon Jackson of the home; three brothers, James Jackson, Roosevelt Jackson, Jr. and Johnny Lee Jackson all of Amarillo; one sister Lillian Sullivan of Canyon; his grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and many many friends.
