Tulia, Texas— Edith Irlbeck, 89, died Monday, September 7, 2009 in Tulia. A rosary will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, September 8, 2009 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia with Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Cemetery in Happy, TX under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Edith was born September 21, 1919 to Joseph T. and Olive Emma Lange in Nazareth. She attended school in Nazareth and moved to Ralph Switch, north of Happy at the age of 9 and attended schools at Kaffir Switch. She married Paul Nicklous Irlbeck on April 20, 1941 in Happy and they moved east of Tulia and farmed. They moved into Tulia in 1966. They were married for 59 years. Mr. Irlbeck died April 26, 2000. She was a member of the St. Williams Ladies Organization for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, two infant children: Frances Irlbeck and Benedict Joseph Irlbeck, her siblings: Sister Agnes Imelda Lange, George Lange, Sister Mary Michael Lange, Joe B. Lange, Gertrude Irlbeck, Albert Lange, and Imelda Wesley, a granddaughter: Lorelea Acker and a great grandson: Andrew Horner. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Jerry Acker of Nazareth, Bernadette and Sam Cook of Panhandle, two sons and daughters-in-law: Albert and Jan Irlbeck of Tulia and Paul and Connie Irlbeck of Tulia, one sister: Mary Johnson of Tulia, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Lorelea Acker Scholarship Fund, c/o Nazareth High School, Box 189, Nazareth, TX 79063.
