Tulia, Texas—Jerry Ayres, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 with his family by his side. Jerry was born on May 13, 1953 in Borger, Texas to C. O. and Francis Ayres. At the age of 9, his family moved to Deer Park, Texas where he attended school. Upon graduation from high school, Jerry served in the US Air Force for 2 years stationed at Eglin AFB, Florida. After serving his country, Jerry returned to Deer Park and worked as a Plant Operator for Big 3 in La Porte for several years. Jerry loved to do carpentry work and was excellent in renovating homes. He was a quiet man who loved to fish. In March 1998, he met Carol Allen while playing checkers in an online chat room. They chatted daily until February 1999 when they finally met in person. In August of 1999, Jerry moved to Tulia and in August of 2000 he and Carol started their life together. He is survived by his wife Carol Allen of Tulia; his son, Jamie Ayres and wife Rebecca of Deer Park; Carol’s sons, Michael Allen and wife Sarah of Lubbock and Jeffrey Allen and fiancé Brianna Alves of New Braunfels; his brother, Larry Ayres and wife Gloria of Deer Park; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
