Tulia, Texas-Phillip Eugene Myers, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 5, 2017 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Tommy Ewing, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Phillip was born on March 8, 1927 to John and Hettie Myers in Clarendon but was raised in Silverton, Texas. His family later moved to Plainview. He married Betty Rhea McCaslin of Tulia on May 20, 1945. They had five children. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. in Dumas and Sweeny for a total of 37 years. He retired from Phillips in 1985. They moved to Tulia in 1989. He served in the US Army from Aug. 1946 to Aug. 1949. Phillip enjoyed working on old cars and working in his yard. When they lived in Sweeny he really enjoyed working with his herd of cows. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; Walton Myers, Albert Myers, Clyde Myers and his sister; Cecil Brown. He is survived by his wife; Betty Myers of Tulia, his children; Phyllis Mallory and husband Jim of Longview, James Myers and wife Marlene of Andrews, Roy Myers and wife Kathy of Tyler, Marvin Myers and wife Joyce of Amarillo and Barbara Jones and husband Gary of Cypress, 19 grandkids, 32 great grandkids and two great, great grandkids. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Tulia Senior Citizens Center, 629 SE 2nd St., Tulia, Texas 79088. Online condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
