Wiletta Eloise Edwards Ritter (Plainview)

Wiletta Posey Edwards Ritter, 92, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the Silverton Cemetery with Rev. Janet Edwards officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas. Wiletta Posey Edwards Ritter was born on March 24, 1925 to Bud and Lois Posey at her Granddaddy Pete Dennis’s ranch in Stonewall County at the foot of the Double Mountains. She married Roy A. (Eddie / Skeeter) Edwards on August 31, 1942 in Florida where he was in the Navy. Freddie Neal was born in 1944, followed by Gary Loyd in 1945. To finish their family, Tommy Lynn was born in 1949. Following the Navy, the family lived in Silverton. Wiletta was an avid square dancer for many years and enjoyed riding horses. She loved to socialize over a game of cards, but she wouldn’t let you win just because she liked you. She adored her family and was involved in their lives. She was fiercely independent and though we will miss her, we know that she is dancing and loving on those waiting for her in Heaven. Wiletta was preceded in death by her sons, Gary (2000) and Tommy (2009) as well as a husband, Roy A. Edwards (1998). She was also preceded by two grandsons, Jody Edwards (2012) and Darren Edwards (2014). She is survived by a son, Freddie Edwards, and wife, Jan of Petersburg, a daughter-in-law, Janet Edwards of Abernathy, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
