Glendene A. Abernathy (Tulia)

Tulia, Texas- Glendene A. Abernathy, 86, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Graveside services are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Glendene was born on June 19, 1931 to Alvie and Eva Mae Autry in Sterling, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulia High School and was active around the Tulia community. Glendene married Thomas Leslie Abernathy, Jr. in Tulia. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Progressive Study Club. Glendene loved and enjoyed cooking and entertaining her friends and family. Everyone that knew her knew that she found a special pleasure in gardening and growing flowers. She is preceded in death by her parents: Alvie Autry and Eva Mae Autry, her husband: Thomas Leslie Abernathy, Jr., her son: Leslie Lee Abernathy and one brother: Harold Autry. She is survived by her grandchildren: Colton Thomas Abernathy of Midland and Whitni Leigh Abernathy of Houston, two sister-in-laws: Joye Autry of Amarillo and Katherine Chitwood of Lubbock, two nieces: Kathie Bryant of Vega and Kay Daniel of Lubbock and many grand nieces and nephews.
