Tulia, Texas— Ventura Ramos, beloved Granddaughter, Daughter, Sister, and Aunt, was called to her eternal resting place on June 23, 2017. A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A rosary will be held at 6:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Deacon Jose Frausto officiating. Ventura was born on July 16, 1934 in Ottine, Texas to Emigdio and Juana Ramos. She attended schools at Lockhart, Shallowater and graduated from Whiteface High School. She graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Home Economics and Education. She joined the Sisters of the Good Shepherd and served in Arizona and New Orleans from 1960 until her return to Tulia in 1976. She was a very active member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Tulia involved in Christian formation, liturgy and leadership. In 2005 she was named Woman of the Year by the Amarillo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She is survived by her sisters Maria Ramos, Marcelina Harrell, Petra R. Porras, Guadalupe Diaz, Flora Burton, Irene Prado, and Francisca Zavala, and her brothers Emigdio Ramos Jr., Ysidoro Ramos, Juan Ramos, Jose Ramos, and Jesse Ramos. Ventura entered religious service with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in 1960 and was recognized as Woman of the Year by the Amarillo Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in 2005.
