Tulia, Texas-Roy Shelburne, 64, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Tulia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Rusty Gray, pastor of Tulia Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Roy Lee Shelburne was born on November 20, 1952 in Gatesville to Emil and Freda Shelburne. He grew up in Gatesville and attended schools there. He joined the US Army on September 30, 1970 and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on October 29, 1973. He was a cowboy all his life and also drove a truck, but his passion and love was being a cowboy. He married Shanni Schlickeisen on July 2, 1994. He is survived by his wife: Shanni Shelburne of Tulia, one daughter: Brandie Devine and husband Robert Perez of Happy, five sons: Roy Dan Shelburne and wife Deana of Amarillo, William Wayne “Billy” Shelburne and wife Holly of Amarillo, Phillip Shelburne and wife Tara of Tulia, James Shelburne and wife Madison of Tulia and Johnny Shelburne and wife Ashley of Tulia, one sister: Judy Faubion and husband Dave of Belton, one brother: Jimmy Shelburne and wife Melissa of Gatesville, twenty-four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one on the way.
