Philip Albert Short (Plainview)

Philip Albert Short, 86, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009, in Plainview. Memorial services will be at 2:30 P.M., Monday, October 5, 2009, at Ninth & Columbia Street Church of Christ, with Silas E. Short officiating. Mr. Short has donated his body to the Texas Tech University Medical School to help the advancement of science. Services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Short was born on March 19, 1923 in Hale Center, Texas to Silas Edward and Golda Robinson Short. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force Ground Crew in Brazil. He graduated from Texas Tech University and worked as a CPA. Philip loved to play golf and loved to travel. Philip and Lois traveled to Hawaii eight times. They have been members of Ninth & Columbia St. Church of Christ since 1961. Philip was seen as a very happy and cheerful person by everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, six sisters, and two sons, Steve Short and Quinton Short. Philip is survived by his wife, Lois Short of Plainview, one daughter, Cindy Cox & husband Galon of Stephenville, one brother, Cayce Short of Hale Center, one sister, Deane White of Abilene, two granddaughters, Melissa Rogers & husband Richard of Bedford and Denise Boedeker & husband Jason of Weatherford and three great grandchildren, London Rogers, Quinton Boedeker and Gabby Boedeker. Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Home of Lubbock, PO Box 2824, Lubbock, Texas 79408 or to Area Community Hospice, PO Box 5087, Plainview, Texas 79072.
