Frances Ruth Priddy Dendy, 92, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Plainview, TX. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas with pastor, Nick DeLay officiating. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Frances was born to Buril Franklin and Ida Wright Priddy on December 23, 1924 in the Farmer Community, Crosby County. She attended grade school at Farmer and bussed to Ralls High School where she graduated in 1942. She attended Draughn’s Business College and attained a job at the Citizen’s National Bank. She married her high school sweetheart Alton Wayne Dendy on November 11, 1944. They established their home on a farm 6 ½ miles north of Petersburg in March of 1945 where they lived for 32 years. They moved into Petersburg where they had stock, farmed and opened Dendy’s Discount Tire in Plainview which they maintained 15 years. She joined the Methodist Church when she was eleven years old and then became a Baptist with her husband and children. She worked one day a week for 29 years at the Floydada Livestock Auction. She taught a young girl’s Sunday School class for many years, was a member of the 1936 Study Club, a room mother for her kids and worked as a 4-H Leader. She has a daughter, Margaret Freese of Plainview and a son, Wayne Ray Dendy of Petersburg; 3 sisters, Nell Ledbetter of Lubbock, Betty Hatfield of Dallas and Mary Gillon of Ralls; a sister-in-law Danee Priddy of Waxahachie; a granddaughter and her husband, Donna Kay and Vondal Burnett of Plainview; her great grandchildren, Tyler and wife, Kim Burnett of Plainview and Rebecca Burnett of Lubbock and her great – great granddaughter, Kora Lynn Burnett . Mrs. Dendy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alton who died October 18, 2001,a son-in-law, Elmer Freese, a grandson, Elton Bryan Freese and her brothers Billy Gene Priddy and Joe Buril Priddy.
