Susan McCulloch Yates, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017. No funeral services will be held, but a private service for close friends and family will be at a later date at Plainview Memorial Park with pastor, Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Susan was born on May 3, 1932 in Memphis, TX to Moody and Verna Kellison McCulloch. She graduated from Plainview High School and attended Texas Women’s University and West Texas State University. She later taught seventh grade English and Art in the Plainview Independent School District. She married Glenn Yates on August 23, 1952 in Plainview and settled into the role of mother and wife. Glenn was a farmer and she took on the role of a farmer’s wife with great pride. Susan was always devoted to being a homemaker for her family. She and Glenn joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1956. She was a member of a Bridge Club and enjoyed getting together with her friends. She is preceded by her parents, her husband and a sister, Katherine Massie. She is survived by a son, Mack Yates and his wife Buffie of Plainview; a brother, James McCullouch and his wife Linda of Williamsburg,VA ; one grandchild, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
