Monte G. McIlroy, 80, passed away on October 29, 2017. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Church of Christ, 312 W. College in Lockney, Texas with Earl McDonough officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas. Mr. McIlroy was born on May 8, 1937 to Morris Branch and Hope Victoria (Roberts) McIlroy in Lamesa, Texas. He graduated from Morton High School in 1956, then joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served from 1956 until 1959. At which time he joined his father M.B. McIlroy in McIlroy’s Pest Control. He then met and married Dianne Herr on August 18, 1960. He was very active in Boy Scouts, Assistant Scout Master for troop 215 for over 16 years. He was among the first group that was inducted into the Haynes Boy Scout Council Hall of Fame. Other activities he enjoyed are model airplanes, golf, snow skiing, sailing, scuba diving and competition shooting. He is preceded in death by his parents M.B. and Hope McIlroy. He is survived by his wife, Dianne McIlroy of Plainview; his son, David McIlroy and wife Debbie of Plainview; his daughter Dana Crowell of Plainview; his sister Sarah Miller and husband Paul of Gonzales, Texas; four grandchildren, Justin McIlroy of Bedford, Amelia Borum and her husband Brandon, Miranda McIlroy and Emily Crowell all of Plainview; two great grandchildren, Brighton Borum and Desirae Perry.
