Bebe (Reba) Munden Harris, 89, went to be with our Lord November 6, 2017 in Plainview, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10th at 11:00 am in the Plainview First Baptist Church Chapel with Lanny Voss officiating. A private, graveside service will be held earlier in the day under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Bebe was born on October 29, 1928 to James H. (Jimmy) and Lillian Gunnells Munden in Marshall, Texas. Due to the death of her mother at age 5, she and her Dad made their home with her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Munden. She was a wonderful, Christian lady who raised Bebe until she was 12 years old. Her Dad then married Lena Waldrop and welcomed a new sister in to her life, Shirley, 3 years later. After graduation from high school in 1945, she went to work for the Marshall National Bank until she married James F. Harris on December 24, 1947. They moved to Galveston, and then Fort Worth during the following years because of James' employment with the Corps of Engineers. They finally settled in Marshall, Texas in 1951. She worked for a local CPA firm while James went to work for Skelly Oil Company. They retired in 1986 to spend more time with their family. James & Bebe moved to Plainview in October 2000 to be closer to their beloved daughters. During their children's early years, she was a homemaker, involved in many church and school activities. She was a room mother, active in PTA, a Camp Fire Girls leader, and an active member of Friendship Baptist Church. When they moved to Plainview, both joined First Baptist Church of Plainview and loved it very much. She was an avid member of The Searchers Sunday School Class as well. Preceding her in death were her husband James and a daughter, Vicky, who died at birth. She is survived by two daughters, Julie Harris Owen & husband Rudd, Jan Harris Owen & husband Ross of Plainview; four granddaughters, Meredith Owen Riddle and husband Trent of Ransom Canyon, Lauren Owen Collier of Plainview, Jordan Owen Gower & husband Jonathan of Richardson, Sealey Owen DeSoto and husband Ross of Kailua, Hawaii; eight great grandchildren, Brennon, Lincoln, Hogan, and Sutton Riddle, Ethan and Tristan Collier, Will and Landon Gower,a sister Shirley and husband Kenneth Ford of Marshall, Texas, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a warm, heartfelt appreciation for Amy Leatherman & her entire staff at the Santa Fe Place. They all cared for her like family. She loved each one and spoke of them often. Sincere thanks also go to Dr. Sergio Lara, Sandra Dulakis and staff for all the years they cared for her. A final thanks to Area Community Hospice for their Christian, professional care these last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church of Plainview or Area Community Hospice. Condolences may be made at www.kornerstonefunerals.com.
