Husband, father, son, grandson, brother and forever friend. Little did we realize what a special soul came into the world on February 11, 1952, the ultimate free spirit. Ken Service was born in Plainview, Texas to S.V. "Curly" Service and Nathalie Johnson Service on February 11, 1952. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1970 and attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon with the football program. He was sought out from various racers to "wrench" on their cars in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He worked for automotive supply houses until returning to Plainview. He worked for some time for Margaret's Jewelry after his father married Margaret Lloyd Dorman in 1978. He continued to be involved with the racing world, which was his passion. He worked for Speed Shop USA in Lubbock and later for AutoZone then O'Reilly Auto Parts in Plainview. He has been employed with O'Reilly's since 2003. Ken was counted on by his many friends and O'Reilly customers to find the impossible, to find car parts and various ideas for the racer or collector. Kenneth met and married Tammy Liedtke Peitz on August 1, 1998. Tammy and her son Cody Peitz were both the highlights of his life, along with Tammy's mother, Neva Liedtke, who the family lovingly calls "Amma". Ken loved his family and adored his dogs. The family would like to send our deepest gratitude to the staff at Interim Home Health and Hospice. The family asks that any memorials be made to Interim Hospice in Plainview.
