Paula Williams passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 1, 2009. Paula was born in Waco on September 13, 1939 to John Paul and Estha Sullenberger Zimmerman. Her family moved to Plainview soon after. She attended Plainview High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1957. Upon graduation from high school she attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts in 1961. After earning her degree from Texas Tech she became a dedicated teacher for the next 29 years with the Plainview public school system. She remained a strong advocate for education throughout her life. Paula was a member of several professional and social organizations. Paula married her high school sweetheart, Coleman Williams, on January 24, 1960 and together they raised three daughters. Paula was a loving mother and a proud grandmother to six grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Coleman, her daughters and their families: Jennifer and Raj Horan of Plainview, Mary and Greg Smith of Lubbock, and Liz and Luke Lusk of Lubbock. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Davis of Fort Worth, as well as six grandchildren: Matthew and MacLane Horan, Gavin and Jordan Smith, and Jade and Alex Lusk. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Johnny Zimmerman. Paula was a faithful member of the First Christian Church and was devoted to her family and education. A memorial service in honor of Paula will be held at the First Christian Church of Plainview on Wednesday, November 4th, at 10:30 a.m. A private graveside service will be conducted prior to the memorial. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, November 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paula’s name to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation in order to fight the battle against breast cancer.
