Tulia, Texas—Kenneth Gwyn “K.G.” Vaughn, 84, died at 8:15 am, Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Swisher Memorial Hospital in Tulia. A rosary services was recited for K.G. at 7 pm Monday, November 9th at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors chapel in Tulia. A private graveside services for the immediate family was held Wednesday, November 11th at Rose Hill Cemetery with Father Mario Stortz officiating. A memorial mass will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 14th at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Father Fernando Ruge officiating. K.G. was born April 8, 1925 in Tulia, where he resided his entire life. He married Karleen Ann Schwaller of Nazareth on August 9, 1949 and together they raised nine children. He owned and operated Vaughn Co., Inc. from 1946 until his recent illness. He was very active in his community and church. K.G. served on active duty in the US Navy from 1943 until 1946 and continued in the Naval Reserves from 1946 until 1976 retiring as a LCDR. Preceding him in death were his wife Karleen, his son Tim Vaughn and his granddaughter Madeline Vaughn. He is survived by five daughters and three sons: Gwyn Ann Shannon of Tulia, Tom Vaughn of Shallowater, Janis Vaughn Miller of Lubbock, Rex Vaughn of Spur, Mary Beth Minchew of Wills Point, Bill Vaughn of Virginia Beach, VA, Lorin Scarborough of Arlington, Sharon Wilkes of Lubbock, 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
