Floyd Dell Tiffin (Plainview)

Floyd Dell Tiffin, 88, of Plainview died Thursday, November 12, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 16, 2009, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Steve Campbell of First United Methodist Church in Slaton officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5-7 P.M., Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the funeral home. Mr. Tiffin was born on July 22, 1921, to Lester L. and Vesta Viola McAdams Tiffin in Beaver Co., Oklahoma. He married Georgia Murl Slatter on February 7, 1942, in Lorenzo, Texas, she preceded him in death. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He married Linda Chambliss Doss on April 22, 1989, in Plainview. He has lived in Hale County since 1949, and has been a farmer here for 50 years. He was a member of the Hale Center Co-Op Gin Board, President of the Hale County Senior Citizens Board, a member of the Hale Center Athletics Booster Club, a member of Belles ‘N Beaux and Promenaders Square Dance Clubs and a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. Floyd and Linda founded the Senior Citizens Dance Class. Mr. Tiffin was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Georgia Murl Slatter Tiffin, a brother, Walter Tiffin, a sister, Ima Jean Tiffin Hamilton and great grandchildren, Malori & Maddox Cotter. He is survived by his wife, Linda Doss Tiffin of Plainview, Texas, his children, Floyd D. Tiffin, Jr. & wife Darlene of Amarillo, Texas, Loretta Ann Tiffin Bourland & husband Rusty of Refugio, Texas, Ricky Lynn Tiffin & wife Cloris of Slaton, Texas, Jimmie Doss, Jr. of Cleveland, Texas, Lynette Doss Hubbard & husband Donald of Paris, Texas and Christie Doss Thrasher & husband Scott of Plainview, Texas, four sisters, Eva Mae George & husband Aubrey of Plainview, Texas, Juanita Jo Tiffin of Missoula, Montana, Billie Shugart of Missoula, Montana and Wynell Williams of Little Elm, Texas, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Rd. Ste. 12-A, Lubbock, TX 79424. 4.
