Tulia, Texas— Gloria G. Mickey, 75, died at 1:19am Thursday, June 8, 2006 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 12, 2006 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Homer Galyen, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Mrs. Mickey was born April 21, 1931 in Halfway, Texas. She grew up in Hale County and attended schools in Plainview. She married Claud Mickey on June 30, 1948. After their marriage they lived in Canyon and then moved to Tulia and lived here for over 50 years. She worked for the County Treasurer and she became the Swisher County Librarian in 1972. With Mrs. Mickey as librarian, she helped the library become a member of the Texas Panhandle Library System. Working for another 10 years she retired in 1982. Mr. Mickey died on December 20, 2002. She moved to Amarillo in 2003. She is survived by one son; David Mickey of Amarillo, two brothers; Jimmy Gilbert of Plainview and Eugene Gilbert of Houston, two sisters; Lillie Monteith of Houston and Laura Jane Gammage of Midland, three grandchildren; Chris Robinson of Amarillo, Heather Turben of Amarillo and Sharon Mickey of Amarillo and 3 great grandchildren.
