Jose ('Hito,' 'Joe') Galvan On the evening of Saturday, June 17, 2006, surrounded by family and friends, Jose ("Hito," "Joe") Galvan quietly and peacefully went to sleep in this life to awaken in Heaven. He was born Dec. 14, 1954, in Cienega de Flores, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the fourth son of the late Aristeo and Guadalupe Galvan. He married Nina Villalpando, on April 28, 1973, and together they raised three sons, JoeRay (Cynthia) of Casa Grande, Ariz., Jason (Norma) of Plainview and Ignacio Aguirre (Sharrel) of Plainview, and daughter Veronica (Luis) Hernandez of Plainview. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Vanessa, Luis Jr., Bobby, Jordan, Lauren, Aaron, Janessa, Jayla, Jaylynn, JoeRay Jayden and Jayven. A special uncle, Claudio Guajardo, plus many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends also survive him. He was a brother of Armando Galvan, Javier (Frances) Galvan and Miguel Galvan, all of Plainview, Texas. He attended school in Plainview, Texas, and graduated from WBU/ROTC as a Certified Mechanic in 1976. Mr. Galvan was a faithful and loyal employee at Cargill Meat Solutions for 28 years. In 2004, he was recognized for 25 years of service with Excel (Cargill Meat Solutions). He was a gentle, fun loving, hardworking family man enjoying his "wild side" as a member of "Los Riders" Motorcycle Club of Plainview. As a member of "Los Riders," he helped sponsor various programs including, "Toys for Tots" and "Jugetitos para Tejanitos" for the Plainview area. He sponsored LULAC scholarships and community fund-raisers for needy families during Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was very proud to participate in the "Be An Angel" Christmas project. The celebration of his life will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Iglesia Bautista Date St., 900 N. Date St., where he attended. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, and as a kind and gentle loving spirit with the gift of patience. Tonight at 7, there will be praise and worship time at Iglesia Bautista Date St., where Galvan's body may be viewed. The Rev. Santos Rodriguez and Rev. Glen Godsey will be officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Pallbearers will be JoeRay Galvan, Iggi Aguirre, Jason Galvan, Veronica Hernandez, Javier Galvan and Angel Diaz. Honorary pallbearers are "Los Riders" and "Christian Riders." "Los Riders" will form the Color Guard, led by Gerald Gonzales, riding Joe's motorcycle. We will treasure our many wonderful memories of laughter and joy that will outweigh any tears, and it is this that will give us the strength to carry on without him until we meet again.
